Morals and Ethics classes, after school hours. |
As the Begarly’s
travel around America many people are confused about the human
rights abuses in the third world countries. They often ask, “ How
can someone even think that way”? The answer to that question
many times is simply the foundation for their morals and ethics.
We in America are hard pressed to understand third world thinking
simply because we have a government system that was founded
upon the moral and ethical teachings of scripture. Our
founding fathers understood that it is God who grants knowledge
to man and the
wisdom
to glorify God with that knowledge through acts of loving
kindness to his fellow man. We have learned that without Christ
and
the scriptures in the educational system we develop nothing
more than smart unbelievers.
When you travel into countries without this foundational
heritage you find many times societies built upon the survival
of the
fittest or Totalitarian rule. This is how the animal kingdom
operates and
this is how humans operate without God and his moral and
ethical teachings of scripture.
We believe that the scriptures of the
Bible are Gods rule for right and wrong behavior for all
humanity. This
does not mean that all societies should adapt to a western
culture but their culture adapt to the morals and ethics
of the Bible. We
believe that each culture should have the opportunity to
choose Jesus Christ and his Moral and Ethical way of life. Christ’s
standards are not one of many ways to live by; but is the
only way handed down
to man, by God himself, in which we as men must live if we
are to expect the abundant life that Christ offered on this
earth. The Scholarship program exists to help students see from
the
scriptures that God has a way in which He expects his children
to live upon this earth. This life laid out by the scriptures
has benefits
to reap now and on into eternity. Children are not pressured
to become Christians or perform any religious duties. They
simply attend the
classes free of charge. The children stay after school so
this does not interfere with the regular school program.
The children take
an examination every three months over the material they
have
been taught. Those who pass the examination receive a scholarship
toward
their secondary education. This happens three times a year
in Grade Six and Seven. We feel it is important for people
to see that these
children are not receiving a hand out but they are earning
their scholarships. They earn them by staying after school
for the classes,
studying the material and taking the examinations. This is
not a hand out; it is an opportunity created for people to
better themselves.
These scholarship funds are held in an account for each student
and are paid on behalf of each student at the beginning of
each term to each school that participates in the program.
At the present
time
the Scholarship program is active in three rural schools
and two schools in the small town of Chinhoyi where we serve
about three hundred and fifty students per week through this
program.

In addition to the Scholarship program the students in the
five participating schools in Grade Six and Seven have the opportunity
to attend a four night stay at the Hunnington Retreat Center.

| Where we seek to know Christ
and make him known. |
During their stay at HRC a Christian
atmosphere and quality time is provided each school Holiday
throughout the year. These days are filed with sport competition,
lectures,
Bible lesson, and dramas in an environment conducive for
the youth and their age group. When we as Christians learn that
our profession
of faith in God is recognized by the world, only when we
have
acts of kindness toward the development of our fellow man,
then we will see the world take notice. You can truly make
a difference
in the life of a child. Have you ask God, “God, what would
you have me to do?” When you get the answer, for the love
of Christ and His Children, Do it. It could be that we are
a part of the answer. |
